Freshmen Experience

Freshman Fest 2017

Every year, Northwestern Hillel holds an annual pre-orientation program (POP) Freshman Fest. It is a fantastic opportunity for new students to meet one another after arriving on campus before classes start. This overnight experience, held the night before move-in day, introduces new students (both freshman and transfers) to Evanston and Hillel. You can find more information about Freshman Fest on Northwestern's Pre-Orientation Program website!

Involvement Opportunities during your First Year at Northwestern

Look out for more information about FYSH (First Year Students of Hillel) for the 2017-2018 cohort. FYSH is a group of freshmen who plan and execute events for freshmen peers, while also developing leadership and interpersonal skills. Interested in being part of this cohort? More information to come at the beginning of fall quarter.

Each quarter, we host a Shabbat dinner specifically for freshmen. This is a great way to meet other first years while enjoying a delicious (and free!) dinner! Keep an eye out for dates and timing of the dinner.

Do you want to travel with Hillel? We have many opportunities to go abroad! Northwestern Hillel runs a summer and a winter Birthright Israel trip -- click here for more information. We also have Alternative Break trips each year during spring break, check out our Alternative Breaks page for dates and registration information.
