Passover Spring 2019 Information

Passover is just around the corner and Northwestern Hillel is gearing up for a busy holiday week! Hillel offers a variety of options for students to experience, and celebrate, Passover.

Note: While online registration for meals is now open, we welcome walk-ins to any and all meals.

Communal Seders at Hillel

Friday, April 19th (first night): Join us for a general seder at Hillel, led by Michael Simon. Doors open at 7:15 pm, seder begins at 7:30pm

Friday, April 19th (first night): Join us for "A Very Animated Seder" at Hillel led by Rabbi Brandon Bernstein. Doors open at 7:15 pm, seder begins at 7:30pm

Is your favorite seder memory growing up of watching A Rugrats Passover?  Then we have the option for you! Join Rabbi Brandon in a pop-culture infused seder that looks at the Passover holiday through the most lively lens possible – cartoons!  This interactive seder experience will feature clips from your favorite animated television shows and movies, an illustrated haggadah supplement, and a debate over which Disney villain would make the best Pharaoh!

Interested in Hosting Your Own Seder?

In addition to offering communal seders at Hillel, we want to help you Host Your Own Seder! You can purchase a Seder in a Box for $10, which includes haggadot, kippot, grape juice, matzah, and seder plate materials.

If you purchase the Seder in a Box option, Becca Haas (becca.haas@northwestern.edu) will contact you directly to confirm the number of people you will be hosting. Becca will also help you schedule a time to meet with Rabbi Brandon for a "Seder 101" conversation.

Passover Meals at Hillel

Northwestern Hillel will serve Kosher-for-Passover meals, in the Hillel dining room, for lunch and dinner starting with lunch on April 20 and concluding with lunch on April 27. Lunches will take place from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM, and dinners will take place from 5:00-7:00 PM. 

***SPECIAL MEAL TIMES: Friday night dinner, 4/26, dinner will be served at 8pm. Shabbat services will be at 7:30pm that evening.

Passover Meal Costs

 

As usual, Shabbat dinner and lunch during Passover will be free of charge. Matzah Pizza on April 23 will also be free. All other meals will be available at these highly-subsidized rates:

All Lunches & All Dinners - Seders not included (Non-Students): $75

Individual Meals - $5 for lunch and $5 for dinner - If you are not signing up for a meal plan, but would instead like to purchase individual meals, please contact Becca Haas at becca.haas@northwestern.edu to sign up. Payment for individual meals will be collected separately.

 

For students with a Northwestern University meal plan, you can use your WildCARD to swipe for meals at Hillel! Please still register for meals here.

We will always have vegetarian and gluten free options available!
